I am looking at the prop, the carb is on the right side of the engine. Can you tell me how many turn the factory settings are for the idle and air screws are, maybe I can start there again? The engine is a 2004 model 1F2531DN serial number 1B037544, if this will help you anymore. I'm guessing that all the fuel isn't burning. When I put the champion plugs in, according to the parts store, they were almost an exact match except for the "ea-9" at the end of the NGK number, whole number is ***** Could it be that the champions were maybe a hotter plug? One other thing I noticed is that when it is running good before I put the cover on, there is small amounts of gas showing on the water. After it died over the weekend and I replaced the plugs with the what the manual says exactly is when the problems started. I got it to idle at 1000 rpm without stalling when I put it into gear and it wasn't dying out when the cover was put back on. This spring I hooked it to a hose, replaced the plugs with champions (that I don't like), and slowly adjusted the idle myself. Still ran rough after that, didn't idle the best and had to go from a high rev in neutral and slam it into gear so it wouldn't stall. Last year a marine place look at it and said it was the carb.
